Weekly Outlook: U.S. Planted Acreage and GDP

A heavy schedule of speeches from Fed officials once again dots the economic calendar this week, but there are a few reports to watch for as well. The first two come Tuesday with the latest Case-Shiller housing index, and international trade, which provides a reading on the U.S. trade deficit. On Thursday we’ll see the third reading of fourth quarter 2016 U.S. GDP, which is expected to hover around the last reading of 1.9 percent. Finally, it’s a big week for agricultural markets as the USDA’s annual Prospective Plantings report arrives Friday. The report gives the first and biggest outlook on what U.S. farmers are planting this year.
