The mid-term elections will be the defining political event of 2018. Late in 2017, we asked former Florida Governor Jeb Bush for his outlook on politics for the year. He zeroed in on the November vote, and what Republicans must do to make sure they don’t lose seats. As he told us, the party in the White House traditionally loses Congressional seats in the mid-terms. Eight of the last 10 mid-terms have seen that scenario play out, including the last three.
The question may come down to whether voters feel the party in power has acted on its agenda.
“We’ve had wave elections, people kind of disgusted with the status quo, so we could see that unless Republicans begin to act on their agenda,” he told us.
